Soooooo I just took a trip to CVS to stock up on all things beauty. I literally could spend my entire savings in that store if I wanted to. A quick trip to CVS always turns into a huge beauty haul, leaving with 4 or 5 bags and money I definitely shouldn’t have spent but that’s life.
I’m a huge believer in practicing a proper skin care routine. I’m always looking for new products to experiment with. Within the past couple weeks or so, I’ve been trying to create a new cleansing and moisturizing routine for my face.
My skin has always been pretty clear. It wasn’t until I started using makeup that I ironically began breaking out here and there. Constantly cleaning eyeliner and mascara off my eyes has resulted in what I believe to a be a little discoloration on my eyelids. My mom says she can’t see it but I’m pretty such she’s just trying to be nice. Anyways doe, the goal has been to try and even out my complexion and to stay consistent with a routine that I believe works best for me and my skin.
Over the years, I’ve used Neutrogena, Clean + Clear, Purity, Dove Beauty Bar, and St. Ives products to wash/cleanse my face. Afterwards, I’ve always used Vaseline for my lips (shout out to them, I swear by Vaseline! I did nothing but applaud them in my first beauty basixxx post.) I’ve honestly used pretty much every lotion and creme for my face. I have to admit though, one time I did use a body butter on my face and it was so strong it literally burned my cheeks. I have super sensitive skin so the fragrance was just entirely too much. I was livid.
I’m sure many of you guys have recently watched Amber Rose’s interview on the Breakfast Club. At one point, she was discussing what products she uses to achieve flawless skin. Her secret? Nivea and Clinique. That’s it. Nivea Moisturizing Creme in the jar, not the bottle. So I took my booty to CVS and purchased the same exact thing, in addition to Eucerin Original Healing Repair Creme. In terms of cleansing and moisturizing, I decided to veer away from my usual choices and try something new. I purchased Shea Moisture’s African Black Soap with Shea Butter.
The label explains the bar is for acne prone and troubled skin. While I obviously don’t fall under either of those categories, I did feel like I needed to try something new to restore the clarity of my skin tone. According to the label, the bar consists of: palm ash, tamarind extract, and plantain peel. Needless to say, I’m excited to start my routine and give you guys some feedback on these products I’ve purchased. I also picked up Palmer’s Skin Therapy Oil, essentially used for scars, stretch marks, dry skin, uneven skin tone and aging skin. While I would like to try this on my face initially, I think I may try it all over. Besides, who doesn’t want (and love) soft, flawless skin?
