It’s absolutely insane to even consider the fact that my time down here in the DMV is coming to an end. Thankfully, this is my last week of classes before finals week! The one thing getting me through these next few days is the fact that I’ll be in Miami this weekend! (haaaay Jessie!) Just like that, I’ve completed yet another semester of my college career. I’m literally counting the credits until I get my degree because I honestly don’t know how many more semesters I have in me. I’ve been meaning to write a post dedicated to my disdain towards college courses, but I’ll save that for another day. While it feels like a burden more often than not, college is certainly a necessity. (sometimes I have to keep reminding myself of that.)
As much as I’ve bitched about Fairfield County over the years, I’m surprisingly so excited to be heading back to the 203! There’s so many talented people back home that I’m hoping to get a chance to talk to and write about. I managed to score an internship with this growing centric media company, [Viewing.NYC] this past week! I’ll be working as a contributing writer covering all things New York City. Nightlife. Events. Art. Comedy. Culture. It’s definitely a great opportunity to get exposure as a writer and gain experience.
The dream is to obviously end up on the entertainment side of journalism. Reporting on the hottest in music and dishing on celebrity gossip. In my head, I always imagine a career similar to Miss Info of Hot 97. Angie Martinez. Karen Civil. Since I’ve turned 21 especially, my focus has shifted entirely. I’ve put a lot of shit on the back burner the past six months to really focus on creating my own brand and promoting my writing on a public platform.
I’m trying to turn my dreams into a reality just like everyone else. I just hope you guys enjoy reading these as much as I love writing them.
