If you know me, you know I change my hair frequently! I get so bored and being that I don’t wear my natural hair, switching up my style is a easy as purchasing a couple of new bundles online. I’m always getting harassed about wearing my real hair but I’m honestly so caught up in this weave game. There’s something so appealing about being able to switch up my look at the drop of a dime. I’m sure one day I’ll get sick of weaves.. but, until then.. keep those bundles coming!
I’ve opted to go with a protective style recently. The past few months I’ve had my hair in box braids, which is supposed to allow your hair to “breathe”, without the stress of heat or any other styling methods that may potentially damage your real hair. I’ve worn relaxers since I was in first grade and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I commend young women who’ve committed to the natural hair thing. Kudos to you! It’s definitely not easy, especially when transitioning from relaxed to natural hair. I’ve been wanting to dedicate a post to my hair journey since I started blogging on Tumblr! I wanted to dedicate today’s post to some styles I’ve experimented with over the past few years.
4 – blondes have more fun!
Blonde hair was so much! It’s the most dramatic style transition I’ve ever made in my life. The straight ombre style was such a good idea for the summer months. Definitely a style that’s temporary. I needed a change at that particular time in my life when I tried this look & I definitely adored it while it lasted. Blonde reminds me of the summertime every time I think of trying it out again.
3 – wavey (ravey)
I have such an infatuation with big, curly hair! I’ve always been envious of girls who naturally have this type of hair. For a long time, this was my go to style. It’s super simple in terms of maintenance and styling. You can wash and go at any time of the day, which is perfect if you find hair that stays true to it’s curl pattern. I think may try this again soon but with some color… #hmmmmm
2 – boxin’ & braidin’
This is what my hair looks like right now! I haven’t had my hair braided since I was in high school! Box braids are the easiest style EVER! Just make sure your edges aren’t rough and your braids aren’t fuzzy and you’re golden. I might continue to do this for a couple more months. This break from weave maintenance has been such an easy transition. I Might stick with the Poetic Justice look for the winter months.
1 – 2 short 4 u
THIS IS MY FAVORITE! No one understands how much I love short hair. While the upkeep is a bit more demanding in comparison to some of the other styles I’ve experimented with, I definitely plan on reverting back to this soon! Like the blonde, I tried this super short bob w/ a deep side part back in May. Perfect for the summer months. I think I eventually want to do a dramatic chop and completely crop my hair into some sort of edgy cut. Short is just an entirely different look.
